Explosions shake Sevastopol: City on alert after major drone attack

25 August 2023, 11:35 AM

Explosions rocked Sevastopol overnight on Aug. 25. Russian authorities claimed the "destruction of several UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) over the sea."

There were 42 drones detected by air defense systems, alleged Russia’s Defense Ministry. “As a result, nine of them were shot down and 33 were disrupted by electronic warfare systems."

“Emergency services have not reported any damage to civilian infrastructure. The city is currently calm, but all forces and services remain in a state of combat readiness,” said Mikhail Razvozhayev, the so-called “governor” of Sevastopol.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
