U.S. Treasury removes seven Russian nationals from sanctions list

The U.S. Treasury Department has removed seven Russian nationals, two Russian ships, and two Turkish companies from its sanctions list, the department announced on June 24.
The Treasury department did not specify the reason behind this decision. The following individuals were removed from the specially designated nationals list (SDN):
- Ivan Potanin (son of oligarch Vladimir Potanin, Chair of Norilsk Nickel)
- German Belous (JSCB Novikombank Deputy Chair)
- Irian Kremleva (Otkritie FC Bank Management Board Member)
- Mikhail Klyukin (PJSC Sovcombak Supervisory Board Member)
- Victor Nikolaev (Otkritie FC Bank Management Board Member)
- Nadia Cherkasova (Otkritie FC Bank Management Board Member)
- Maksim Smirnov (Russian national).
Two general cargo ships, the Gennady Egorov and the Vyacheslav Arshinov, both linked to a Russian transportation leasing company, were also removed from the list.
Additionally, two Turkish companies were removed from the list as well: IDA Asansor, an elevator company which has been accused of circumventing sanctions and supplying goods to the Russian defense industry.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
