The Ukrainian army is holding the line in Severodonetsk, Luhansk oblast, as Russian troops continue their attack, said President Volodymyr Zelensky during his nightly address to the nation on June 6.

“Fierce fighting continues on the streets of the city,” he reported.

“Lysychansk, Slovyansk, Bakhmut, Sviatohirsk, Avdiivka, Kurakhove and other places that the Russians are targeting, are the hottest points of confrontation today. On the 103rd day of the war - Ukrainian Donbas still stands, and it stands strong.”

The President thanked members of the Ukrainian military who are fighting on the front lines.

“We are doing everything we can to defend ourselves on the Zaporizhzhya axis and the Mykolaiv axis,” he said.

“I am grateful to every man and woman who withstands this enormous pressure from the invaders and protects our country.”

On June 6, Zelensky said that Russia has strength in numbers in the fight for Severodonetsk, but Ukraine has a chance to win.

On the morning of June 6, the head of Luhansk oblast, Serhiy Hayday, said that active fighting was continuing in Severodonetsk, but the situation for the Ukrainian defenders had taken a turn for the worse.

The head of the Severodonetsk regional administration, Roman Vlasenko, said that the Russian invaders were being forced to transfer additional reinforcements there.
