The Russian army attacked Ukraine with 78 strike drones overnight, including Shahed models and various decoy drones, with Ukrainian Defense Forces downing or suppressing 51, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on July 30.
Russian forces launched the drones from Oryol, Kursk (Russia), and Hvardiyske (temporarily occupied Crimea).
A notable feature of the attack was the use of up to eight jet-powered drones in the northern part of Ukraine.
The Russian air assault was countered by Ukrainian Air Force aviation, anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare and unmanned systems units, and mobile fire groups of the Defense Forces.
Preliminary data indicates that air defenses neutralized 51 Russian drones in Ukraine’s northern and eastern regions.
The Air Force reported 27 drone strikes in seven locations and debris from downed drones falling in two locations.
Overnight into July 30, explosions were heard in Mykolaiv, Pavlohrad, and Kharkiv during the Shahed drone attack. In Pavlohrad, a Russian attack damaged the railway station, tracks, and overhead power lines.
In Kharkiv, strikes hit two districts, damaging homes and a supermarket, with three people injured.
