Russian forces struck Rozetka's largest warehouse with two Shahed drones overnight into Aug. 2, the Ukrainian e-commerce company reported. No casualties were reported from this attack.
"This is the second attack on our warehouse in 24 hours. This is definitely not a coincidence, but a targeted strike," the company said in a statement, adding that it continues to operate on schedule.
On the morning of Aug. 1, Russia struck the same Rozetka warehouse with a Shahed jet-powered drone while roughly 270 people were working there. The attack killed company employee Volodymyr Melnychenko and injured seven others.
Serhii "Flash" Beskrestnov, an adviser to the president, said on Facebook that the target of the first attack was a group of minivans parked at the warehouse. He said the strike was carried out with a Geran-4 jet-powered drone and that decisions on such strikes are made at a lower command level than those for ballistic missile targets.
"Today a jet-powered Shahed struck the Rozetka warehouse, and this is already the second time," Beskrestnov wrote. “The warehouse itself isn't of interest to them. I've written before that large warehouses don't hold merchandise. The enemy's agents also monitor the warehouses and know this. So the guided jet-powered Shahed spotted the minivans parked next to the warehouse and struck them. There were no trucks or semi-trailers there either, for the reasons described above. They hit what was in the parking lot.”
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
