Russia attacks Ukraine with 229 drones from seven directions

Russia launched 229 drones at Ukraine overnight into May 31, including Shahed attack drones and decoys, with impacts recorded at 11 locations and debris falling at five others, according to Ukraine’s Air Force.
The attack began at 6 p.m. on May 30 and included Shahed drones, including jet-powered versions, as well as Gerbera, Italmas, and Parodiya decoy drones.
The drones were launched from the directions of Oryol, Kursk, Bryansk, Millerovo, Shatalovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia, as well as Hvardiyske in occupied Crimea.
As of 8:30 a.m., Ukraine’s air defenses had shot down or suppressed 212 enemy drones in the north and east of the country, according to preliminary data.
The Air Force said 14 strike drones hit targets at 11 locations. Debris from downed drones was also reported at five locations.
In one of the overnight attacks, Russian forces struck an enterprise in the Koriukivka district of Ukraine’s Chernihiv Oblast, killing a 58-year-old man.
Russia began launching Shahed drones at Ukrainian territory on the evening of May 30. Air raid alerts were declared in a number of regions, including areas near the border with Belarus. Explosions were heard in Dnipro. In Kyiv and several other regions, air raid warnings were also issued because of the threat of ballistic missiles.
