Shooting incident in central Kyiv leads to arrest
Police arrested a man suspected of opening fire in the middle of the street in central Kyiv, the Kyiv Patrol Police reported on Telegram on Dec. 25.
Law enforcement officials stated that the incident occurred in the Pechersk district on Dec.24. A call about the shooting was received on the 112 emergency hotline.
The caller reported observing a Porsche on Shovkovychna Street and hearing several gunshots before the vehicle drove away in an unknown direction.
The police relayed the information about the incident to their colleagues and initiated a search for the potential suspect, locating and stopping the vehicle on Lesi Ukrainki Boulevard. The vehicle was occupied by a 40-year-old driver and a 25-year-old passenger.
The latter appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and behaved aggressively. During a cursory check, the patrol officers found ammunition cartridges and a used shell casing.
The suspect was arrested on the spot,
and law enforcement officials have opened an investigation into the matter.
