Slovakia has handed over its first four MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine, Slovakia’s Minister of Defense Jaroslav Nagy confirmed on March 23.

Ukrainian pilots and mechanics arrived in Slovakia on March 22 to pick up the planes and prepare them for departure, reported Slovakia’s Dennik N on March 23.

The fighters then departed from the Sliaс air base after 12 p.m. on March 23.

“Thank you to everyone involved for their fantastic professional work. Slovakia stands on the right side, and with this gesture, we as a country have written ourselves in capital letters into modern world history, which speaks of timely assistance, sincere solidarity, and national greatness,” he added.
