Ukraine and Slovenia sign 10-year security pact
Ukraine and Slovenia signed a bilateral security agreement for ten years, Ukraine's President's Office reported on July 18.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Slovenian Prime
Minister Robert Golob signed the agreement. Slovenia has already provided
Ukraine with 13 packages of military aid (including in 2024) and “intends to
maintain this level of support throughout the ten-year term of the Agreement.”
The countries will collaborate in seeking sources of funding
to support projects in Ukraine’s defense industry, under the agreement terms.
Slovenia will additionally allocate EUR 5 million ($5.5 million) for
humanitarian aid, economic recovery, and the humanitarian program “Grain from
Ukraine.”
The agreement outlines that Ukraine and Slovenia will deepen
cooperation in the areas of information and cybersecurity, combating serious
and organized crime, intelligence and counterintelligence, as well as
humanitarian demining.
The document clearly stipulates Slovenia’s comprehensive
support for Ukraine’s future membership in the EU and NATO.
Ukraine also signed a security agreement with Czechia on July 18.
Overall, Ukraine has now signed 25 bilateral security agreements, including with the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Denmark, Canada, Italy, the Netherlands, Finland, Latvia, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, Sweden, Iceland, Norway, Japan, the United States, the EU, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Luxembourg, Romania, Czechia, and Slovenia.
