The United States says the recent Russian air and missile strikes against Ukraine were aimed at destroying energy and heating infrastructure, leaving Ukraine in the cold and the dark as winter approaches, spokesman for the US Department of State Ned Price said during a briefing.

"We have always said this is a brutal war of aggression, and these strikes seem to suggest that brutality – and brutality alone – is the point. The Kremlin’s attacks were brutal and absolutely unjustified, but they are also signs of weakness and desperation,” he noted.

According to the spokesman, the only aggressor of this war is Russia. "Only Russia is escalating this war in search of profit and ambition, leaving death, destruction, atrocities, and countless trampled futures in its wake. There is one person who can stop this war now and withdraw Russia’s forces, and that of course is Vladimir Putin," Price stressed.
