Sweden to provide Ukraine with a €100 million winter support package

Sweden will provide Ukraine with a winter support package worth 1.1 billion Swedish kronor (over €100.3 million) to meet urgent needs, the Swedish government said on Dec. 2.
As stated in the press release, the new support package is intended to meet Ukraine’s most urgent needs, including energy supply, repair and restoration of damaged infrastructure, and support for reforms and the healthcare sector.
“The government is presenting a new support package focused on the most urgent needs this winter, as well as support that will strengthen Ukraine’s resilience in the long term. Sweden continues to do everything possible to support Ukraine,” said Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa.
Energy and Economy Minister Ebba Busch said that energy supply is an important part of overall defense.
She said that Sweden, together with international partners, is now increasing support for Kyiv’s energy supply. According to her, this not only strengthens Ukraine’s resilience but also the defense of all Europe.
On Nov. 30, Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko said that Germany allocated an additional €170 million to strengthen Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
