Syrskyi visits Pokrovsk direction
Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi has spent several days in first-hand command of Ukrainian brigades deployed near Pokrovsk, Donetsk Oblast, he reported on Aug. 29.
“The battles [in the area] are extremely intense,” Syrskyi wrote in a Telegram post.
“The enemy is throwing everything it can into the fight, trying to break through our defenses.”
According to the commander, the most intense fighting is occurring on the eastern outskirts of the village of Hrodivka, along the Kamyane and Krasne ravines, and directly in Novohrodivka, below the eastern outskirts of Mykhailivka near Selydove.
Syrskyi added that stabilizing the front requires unconventional tactics on Ukraine’s part. His primary objective lies in providing the brigades with sufficient ammunition and other logistical support.
“This is what my work has been dedicated to,” Syrskyi continued.
He specifically commended the servicemen of the 25th Separate Airborne Brigade, the 68th Separate Jager Brigade, and the 151st Separate Mechanized Brigade, who "leave the enemy no chance of returning from the battlefield alive and unscathed."
Despite Ukraine’s surprise incursion into Kursk Oblast, Russia has been making steady incremental gains in Donetsk Oblast, advancing towards Pokrovsk. Enemy troops are now within 10 kilometers of the city outskirts.
