Ukraine’s Health Ministry canceled UAH 14.5 million tenders
for technical supervision and consulting services at Okhmatdyt Children’s
Hospital and will announce new ones, the ministry’s press service reported
on Aug. 5.
Earlier, investigating project Nashi Hroshi wrote that Okhmatdyt plans to spend
UAH 14 million ($314 thousand) on a consultant and technical supervision of the
repair. According to the Prozorro system, the contract for the services of a
consulting engineer is going to be signed with Vassenov Engineering LLC for UAH
9.35 million ($227 thousand), and technical supervision will be carried out by
Ik-Project LLC for UAH 5.22 million ($127 thousand), the article said.
The Ministry of Health then reminded that last week it
decided to hold a new tender for the repair and decoration of Okhmatdyt. No
contract was signed based on the results of the previous tender.
“The cost of technical supervision and engineering
consulting services is determined as a percentage of the expected cost of
construction,” the Ministry reported.
“Therefore, given the fact that the tender for repair work
has been canceled, the related tenders announced by Okhmatdyt are also
canceled.”
The Ministry of Health added that all the money raised for the restoration of Okhmatdyt will be transferred to the hospital’s account, and a new tender will be announced on Prozorro for the repairs.
The ministry is
also working on creating a Recovery Council, which will include representatives
of the largest donors, representatives of Okhmatdyt, the Ministry of Health,
patients’ community, anti-corruption organizations and professional
associations.
“It is the Recovery Council that will agree on the main
qualification requirements for construction companies and the criteria for
selecting a contractor to carry out the work,” the ministry added.
After signing the contract with the new contractor, new
tenders for technical supervision and engineering consulting services will be
announced.
