Thousands of office workers evacuated from Moscow complex after drone attack warning
Thousands of office workers in the Moskva-City complex in Moscow were evacuated from a building following an anonymous call about an upcoming "drone attack," according to social media reports on Aug. 18.
The anonymous report turned out to be a false alarm. About 2,000 people were evacuated from “Tower A.".
Explosions rocked Moscow and the surrounding area overnight on Aug. 18. A drone exploded near the Moskva-City complex, Russian media reported, posting a video of a woman saying that the Moskva-City had been "blown up again." All Moscow airports were closed for departure and arrival on Aug. 18.
Drone attacks have become frequent news in Moscow in the past months. Unidentified drones attacked the same district of the Russian capital on July 30, with a drone colliding with the IQ tower within Moskva-City, resulting in damage to an office of the Russian Ministry of Digital Development situated in the building.
Moscow faced another drone attack overnight on Aug. 1. The same tower within the city's financial district suffered damage again, as reported by the city’s mayor.
There have been several other attacks, one of which briefly set fire to one of the domes of the Kremlin.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
