Three Kherson civilians killed by Russian occupiers over three days
A senior police officer was killed and two passengers hospitalized with serious injuries after a Russian artillery strike on a trolleybus in Kherson, according to the head of Kherson Regional State Administration, Roman Mrochko, on Sept. 19.
According to the Ukrainian Interior Ministry, 49-year-old Senior Sergeant Andriy Tarchynskyi was killed in the attack.
Prior to joining the police, he served in the military as a peacekeeper in Bosnia & Herzegovina and in Kosovo. After the occupation of Crimea in 2014, he volunteered to join the Kherson special police patrol company and served at the Battle of Ilovais’k.
Earlier, 26-year-old Anastasia and her 34-year-old husband Valery Saksahansky were abducted from their home and executed by the Russians in the temporarily occupied village of Mali Kopany on Sept. 16, the Center for Journalistic Investigations reported on Sept. 18.
"Russian soldiers kidnapped the young couple Valery and Anastasia Saksahansky from their home in the village of Mali Kopany on Sept. 15. Unfortunately, they were killed in cold blood. Their two-year-old daughter, Margarita, was orphaned,” said Anastasia's colleague, Antonina Pshenychna.
“They refused to collaborate and receive Russian passports, which was why they were killed. The rest of their family members and the couple’s acquaintances who remained in the occupied village chose to cooperate with the Russians,” Pshenychna said.
The couple's bodies were found with gunshot wounds the day after they were abducted.
