Trump teases Turkey visit

15 May 2025, 11:16 AM

US President Donald Trump said that he might come to the Ukraine-Russia talks in Turkey on May 16, Guy Faulconbridge, Reuters Russia and CIS bureau chief, wrote on X on May 15.

“If it is appropriate,” he said.

Earlier, Trump had downplayed the chances of his visit to Turkey.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is en route to Turkey, as scheduled, even though Russian dictator Vladimir Putin decided not to come to the talks. Zelenskyy will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara but he will not attend the peace talks in Istanbul.
