Polish PM Tusk calls U.S. NATO exit idea a dream scenario for Putin

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the prospect of the United States leaving NATO and blocking aid to Ukraine would be “a dream” for Vladimir Putin, in a post on X on Apr. 2.
“The threat of NATO’s collapse, the easing of sanctions against Russia, a large-scale energy crisis in Europe, the cessation of aid to Ukraine and the blocking of a loan for Kyiv by [Viktor] Orbán — all of this looks like Putin’s dream plan,” the Polish prime minister said.
On April 1, U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with The Telegraph that he is seriously considering withdrawing the United States from NATO after allies refused to join his war against Iran.
At the same time, Trump had previously claimed that the United States does not need assistance in the war with the Tehran regime. In a post on Truth Social on March 17, Trump said he had “always known that the Alliance would never help the United States.”
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán continues to block an EU loan of 90 billion euros for Ukraine.
On March 23, Polish President Karol Nawrocki visited Hungary, reportedly to mark Polish-Hungarian Friendship Day. However, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk sharply criticized the visit, saying that meetings with Viktor Orban run counter to Poland’s interests.
