Explosions in Kharkiv cause casualties
Two explosions were heard in Kharkiv, resulting in casualties, on May 19, public broadcaster Suspilne reports.
At 3:51 p.m., regional governor Oleh Synehubov reported that a woman experienced an acute stress reaction following the strike.
At 3:48 p.m., Oleh Synehubov reported that Russian forces hit the Shevchenkiv district of Kharkiv, likely with anti-aircraft guns, striking near a football field.
At 3:41 p.m., Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed casualties from a daytime strike on the city.
At 3:36 p.m., Terekhov stated that the strikes hit central Kharkiv, with one missile landing at a cemetery and another at a popular local recreation spot.
Synehubov also noted additional explosions and warned of the potential for more strikes.
On May 19, Russian forces attacked the Malodanilov community in Kharkiv Oblast, killing five and injuring 16, including a police officer and a paramedic who were hurt during a secondary strike while aiding others. Among the injured was an 8-year-old child with minor injuries.
Local police reported that one of the fatalities was a woman seven months pregnant.
On May 18, Russian guided aerial bombs struck Kharkiv, injuring six people, three of them children. All victims were hospitalized.
