Vitali Klitschko said two people were killed and five injured, including a child, in a shooting in the Holosiivskyi district, citing medical officials on Apr. 18.
Among the injured is also a security guard at the supermarket where the gunman entered and remains.
On April 17, an unidentified man opened fire on people in Kyiv’s Holosiivskyi district, city police said.
Law enforcement launched a special operation to detain the shooter, deploying police units and KORD special forces to the scene.
Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko later said KORD special forces of the National Police stormed the store where the suspect was located. The man had taken people hostage and opened fire at police during the operation. Negotiators had attempted to establish contact with him beforehand.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
