Russian target a high-rise building in Odesa, casualties are reported
An air raid alarm sounded across Ukrainian oblasts in the evening on Jan. 24, with explosions echoing in Odesa.
At 3:05 a.m., Oleh Kiper, Odesa Regional Administration head, confirmed two drone attacks on Odesa by Russian forces. Despite Air Defense efforts, industrial and residential areas, along with civil infrastructure, were hit. Preliminary reports indicate two casualties, with ongoing updates.
By 12:55 a.m., Odesa City Council contained a fire in a newly built house. The top floors suffered damage, and experts are assessing structural integrity, said Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov. One person with moderate burns was hospitalized, while another with a fall-related bruise refused hospitalization.
At 12:35 a.m., the Interior Ministry reported damage to a high-rise building and a warehouse in Odesa. One person is known to be injured, with updates on casualties pending. Fires at the attack sites are under control, with the State Emergency Service handling extinguishing efforts.
As of 11:30 p.m., public broadcaster Suspilne reported explosions in Odesa, and the Air Force noted enemy tactical aviation activity. The air raid alert remains in effect across oblasts, with ongoing updates on the situation.
