Two UK volunteers reported missing in Donbas

Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast police are looking for two volunteers from the UK, Andrew Bagshaw and Christopher Perry, who went missing on Jan. 6, regional police press service reports.

According to law enforcement officials, at 08:00 a.m. on Jan. 6, the UK nationals, aged 28 and 48, left the town of Kramatorsk, headed towards Soledar in Donbas.

Bakhmut district police department received a report about their disappearance at about 05:15 p.m. on Jan. 7.

The police have since opened a missing persons case, while welcoming any tips from Ukrainians as to the whereabouts of the missing foreign volunteers.

For several weeks, Soledar has been a highly-contested town in eastern Ukraine, with fierce ongoing fighting. Earlier Russian troops reportedly tried to assault Soledar, but were forced to retreat amid significant losses.
