The United
States and several Persian Gulf countries are in talks with Ukraine about
recreating Kyiv’s acoustic drone‑detection network to counter
Iranian attack drones, the Financial Times reported
on March 6.
FT correspondent Christopher Miller, citing people familiar with the discussions, said the talks are taking place at government, military, and private sector levels.
“The U.S. and Gulf states are talking to Ukraine about its Sky Fortress drone detection system and several Ukrainian drone companies about their interceptor drones,” Miller wrote in a Twitter post.
Ukrainian sources told the newspaper that the parties are exploring how Ukraine’s anti‑drone technologies, developed and refined during the Russo–Ukrainian war, could be adapted for use in the Middle East. The negotiations have reportedly then broadened to cover other wartime innovations.
“Americans gave very concrete requests [to Ukraine], so based on their requests, what they need, we will provide,” one Ukrainian source told the FT.
That person added that negotiations with Persian Gulf countries are more complex because they require consultations in the region “to understand what really works.”
SkyFall, the Ukrainian maker of one of the most effective interceptor drones, the P1‑Sun, told the Financial Times that several Middle East governments have contacted the company for assistance.
“SkyFall is involved in a number of initiatives, however we cannot disclose the details at this time,” the company said.
On March 3, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said
Ukraine would assist the United Arab Emirates and Qatar to counter swarms of
cheap Iranian strike drones, adding that Kyiv is open to trading its
interceptor drone technology for Patriot air defense ammunition.
