The United States plans to send an additional package of military aid and equipment to Ukraine, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre announced during a briefing.

"We are also working on another package of urgent assistance for Ukraine," Jean-Pierre said.

While no specific details about the contents of the new aid package were provided, Jean-Pierre emphasized that the U.S. is committed to supporting Ukrainian forces in Kharkiv Oblast, where "Ukrainian forces are engaged in intense combat."

"Russian troops have attempted an offensive in the Kharkiv area and may soon intensify their operations," she said.

"Russia aims to establish a "shallow buffer zone along the Ukrainian border."

"We are closely coordinating with Ukraine to help it prepare," Jean-Pierre added.
