UK accuses Russia of using peace talks to regroup

19 March 2022, 02:59 PM

In an interview with UK-based newspaper The Times on March 18, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has said that Russia is using the peace talks with Ukraine to regroup its troops for a new offensive.

The British official said the talks were a "smokescreen" and she was "skeptical" about the Kremlin's goals.

“If a country is serious about negotiations, it doesn’t indiscriminately bomb civilians that day,” Truss told The Times.

According to her, representatives of the Russian Federation “have lied, and lied and lied.”

“I fear the negotiation is yet another attempt to create a diversion and create a smokescreen,” she added.
