UK expects long-range strikes issue to be resolved by winter

The United States and its allies will ultimately give Ukraine permission to use Western weapons against Russia without restrictions before winter, UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said on Sept. 26.

“I expect that in the coming days and weeks, we will have a very strong position to ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs as we approach this difficult winter of 2025,” Voice of America quoted Lammy.

According to the secretary, UK intelligence suggests that next year, the situation for Russian dictator Vladimir Putin will become much more challenging.

“His economy is in poor condition; it will be very difficult for him to cope with the number of losses and casualties he has incurred,” Lammy added.

He noted that Ukraine has managed to reclaim half of the captured territories and "push Russia out of the Black Sea."

“Ukraine has advanced in [Russia’s] Kursk Oblast and, hopefully, will hold those positions,” the secretary said.

“Indeed, now is the moment, as we transition from autumn to winter, for the West to demonstrate its courage and unwavering commitment.”

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
