Tabaivka is not captured, heavy fighting continues in Kharkiv oblast
Ilya Yershash press officer for the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group, said in a Feb. 2 TV interview that Russia had not captured Tabaivka in Kharkiv Oblast.
Yershash clarified that the line of contact in the area remains very dynamic and added that heavy fighting continues for the settlement.
“The village is currently not under the control of the occupants, but the enemy continues offensive actions,” he said.
“In particular, artillery duels are taking place near Kupyansk and Tabayivka.”
Yershash noted that, in the Lyman-Kupiansk sector, over 228 occupants and 75 pieces of equipment were destroyed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces yesterday.
He also said that the enemy currently has about 40,000 soldiers in the area. The Russians have also deployed more than 500 tanks, 650 armored personnel carriers, 430 artillery systems, and almost 200.
"The main task of the Ukrainian troops now is to exhaust the enemy's offensive potential as much as possible," he said.
On Jan. 21, the ISW said that Russians had advanced along the Kupiansk-Svatove-Kreminna line and captured Krokhmalne in Kharkiv Oblast.
Later, Volodymyr Fitio, Head of Public Relations in Land Forces Command, confirmed this.
On Jan. 28, the Russians announced the capture of the village of Tabaivka in Kharkiv Oblast. The next day, Fitio said that these statements were not true and that fighting was ongoing.
