Ukraine concealed Kursk operation preparations — Estonian military

The Ukrainian military had successfully concealed its preparation for the incursion into Russia’s Kursk Oblast, achieving significant gains thanks to the element of surprise, Estonian Defense Forces deputy chief of staff Lt. Col. Mattias Puusepp said on Aug. 16.

Puusepp further suggested that Russian forces are facing command-and-control issues in defending Kursk Oblast.

“They are unable to respond effectively to the actions of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and everything they are doing at the moment is rather reactive in nature,” Estonian public broadcaster ERR quoted Puusepp.

He added that the Ukrainian forces successfully hid their plans, enabling them to achieve the element of surprise.

“The Russian media and Russian social media are constantly talking about imminent counterattacks, but so far there is no indication that any are taking place on a large scale,” the officer said.

The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.

Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.

For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
