Ukraine cuts diplomatic ties with Russia
Ukraine has officially severed diplomatic relations with Russia, after Moscow launched a massive, multi-pronged combined arms invasion of the country, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky announced at a press briefing on Feb. 24.
“This morning is a historic one, but this history will be very different for our country and for Russia,” said Zelensky.
“And we severed diplomatic relations with Russia; Ukraine is defending itself and will not cede its freedom, despite whatever (they) may think in Moscow.”
In the early hours of Feb. 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a large-scale invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops and armor have crossed the border, supported by artillery fire and air strikes, following numerous cruise missile strikes on military and command-and-control infrastructure all across Ukraine in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Ivano-Frankivsk, Mykolaiv, and other cities.
