Ukraine deploys three brigades across Dnipro River — report
Ukrainian forces have successfully deployed
three brigades to the left bank of the Dnipro
River in Kherson Oblast, while the broader southern counteroffensive has
culminated, The Guardian reported on Nov. 16, citing unnamed Western officials.
“A significant force, described as three brigades, had established a position across the Dnipro that the Russians have proved unable to dislodge, although it was unclear, they said, how much armor the Ukrainian military had been able to get across the river,” the report reads.
Despite this success, the officials expect that Ukraine will likely only achieve gradual progress, liberating “one village at a time.”
The same assessment suggests that Ukraine’s counteroffensive in Zaporizhzhya Oblast has culminated.
“Neither side is capable of mounting a decisive operation on land,” one official said of the front.
The source added that a "prolonged conflict" would follow, in which long-term military assistance from the United States and Europe will play a crucial role.
Additionally, officials said that Russia has suffered losses ranging from 300,000 to 400,000 persons killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine, with the heaviest battles near Avdiivka, Donetsk Oblast, costing it between 500 and 1,000 troops per day.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
