Ukraine developing new domestically-produced air defense
Ukraine is developing its own air defense systems, including hybrid air defense systems, which are a quick fix for this winter, according to Minister of Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshin at a briefing on the results of the Ministry's activities for 2023, Suspilne reports.
According to him, Ukraine manufactures "large" and "complex" air defense systems.
Cooperation also continues with American partners on the FrankenSAM project — a combination of Soviet air defense launchers with NATO-standard missiles and vice versa, Kamyshin said.
The first solutions with FrankenSAM are already working on the battlefield. They can protect critical infrastructure facilities and cities, the minister added.
In the fall, The New York Times, citing sources, noted that the tests of FrankenSAM, which lasted several months in the United States, have been successfully completed in two of the three projects, and one type is already being gradually transferred to the Defense Forces.
On December 7, the White House announced the transfer of technologies to Ukraine for the production of FrankenSAM hybrid air defense systems.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
