Ukraine developing new system for mobilization deferment – Zelenskyy
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy
announced plans to develop a new mechanism for businesses to secure draft
deferments for their employees on Feb. 5.
“We all support our soldiers, but without workers, there will be no wages [for the troops],” said Zelenskyy.
“Maintaining the economy is essential. However, we must not forget that we cannot leave our guys at the front without rotation. That is also very important. Today, this is the priority. So, we adhere to this formula: you either fight or work for the state.”
He believes finding a format to support businesses that operate transparently and pay taxes is vital.
“I have asked our economists and law enforcement to develop a special approach to businesses that are completely 'above board,” the president added.
“So that during the war, honest Ukrainian businesses won't be hassled by tax authorities or law enforcement.”
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
