Ukraine downs 62 drones and four missiles in overnight attack, Air Force reports
Ukraine’s air defense destroyed 62 out of 92 drones and four
of five missiles that Russia launched in an overnight attack on Nov. 8,
the Air Force reported on Telegram.
The Russian forces targeted Ukraine with one Iskander-M
ballistic missile launched from Rostov Oblast and four Kh-59/69 guided missiles
fired from the airspace over Belgorod Oblast.
Additionally, 92 Shahed-type attack drones and unidentified
UAVs were launched from Kursk, Primorsko-Akhtarsk, and Orel in Russia, as well
as from Chauda in Crimea. Russian tactical aviation also deployed guided aerial
bombs against Kharkiv and Sumy oblasts.
Air defense efforts involved anti-aircraft missile troops,
aviation, electronic warfare units, mobile fire teams, and personnel from
Ukraine’s Air Force and Defense Forces.
Air defense was active across Odesa, Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Sumy,
Kharkiv, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zhytomyr, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk,
Khmelnytskyi, and Ivano-Frankivsk oblasts.
In separate incidents, 26 drones were lost across different
regions of Ukraine, with one UAV still in Ukrainian airspace as of 9 a.m.
According to the Air Force, the Russian attack resulted in
injuries, and residential buildings and civilian property were damaged in
Odesa, Kharkiv, Sumy, and Khmelnytskyi oblasts.
In Kyiv Oblast, falling debris from the missile attack
injured four people. Odesa was targeted by attack drones overnight, leaving one
person dead and nine others injured.
Russia also struck a residential building in Kharkiv’s
Saltivskyi district and the city center with guided aerial bombs (KABs),
resulting in injuries to 25 people in the damaged building.
