Ukraine has evacuated 59 of its citizens
from the Gaza
Strip, the Ukrainian embassy in Israel announced on March 8.
According to the embassy, the latest group of Ukrainians to be evacuated included 15 children, 37 women, and 8 men, was taken to Egypt on March 7-8.
The evacuation effort was made possible Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence and the diplomatic staff of the Ukrainian embassies in Israel and Egypt. The Ukrainians are currently staying at a hotel in Egypt and will soon be transported back home, the embassy added.
On Nov. 1, 2023, the evacuation of foreign nationals from the Gaza Strip through the border crossing with Egypt began. At that time, over 350 Ukrainians wished to leave.
The first group of Ukrainians was evacuated on Nov. 8. In addition, Kyiv assisted in evacuating citizens of Moldova from the conflict zone.
On Dec. 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that nearly 40 more Ukrainian citizens had been successfully evacuated from the Gaza Strip.
On Jan. 11, the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel, Yevgen Korniychuk, reported that Israeli and Egyptian security services had denied the evacuation of 29 Ukrainian citizens from the Gaza Strip due to their alleged collaboration with the Hamas militants.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
