Ukrainian forces made ‘notable’ progress in last few days — Washington
The Ukrainian military has made substantial
progress on Zaporizhzhya front in the last 72 hours, White House National
Security spokesman John Kirby said at a press briefing on Sept. 1, as reported
by The Guardian.
He specified that, over the last 72 hours, the United States has observed significant progress made by Ukrainian forces in the direction towards Russia-occupied Tokmak, Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
At the same time, Kirby said that Washington is currently unable to confirm reports that Russia’s nuclear-capable intercontinental ballistic missile Sarmat has been put on combat duty.
An earlier report from The Wall Street Journal noted that the Ukrainian forces managed to breach the main Russian defensive line in southern Ukraine.
On Aug. 27, U.S.-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) stated that Ukraine has advanced enough to attack the second line of Russian defenses in the south.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
