Ukraine has done everything it needs to join NATO in the near future, with the Ukrainian Armed Forces making the greatest contribution, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in his evening address of April 20.
"Ukraine did everything to ensure that our application is approved,” he said.
“It is difficult to even say whose contribution to European and Euro-Atlantic security is greater than that of our warriors... Ukrainian men and women who defend freedom with their lives. I am grateful to all partners who support us in this," Zelenskyy said.
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg came to Kyiv on a surprise visit on April 20. It was his first visit to the Ukrainian capital since Russia's full-scale invasion began.
