MFA comments on possible April visit of Witkoff and Kushner to Kyiv

Ukraine’s invitation to special envoys of Donald Trump to visit Kyiv remains in place, as Ukrainian and U.S. teams work to strengthen a document on security guarantees, Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi said on Apr. 8.
“As for American guests, we are indeed inviting them, the invitation remains in force, and we will be glad to welcome them when they are ready,” Tykhyi said.
Commenting on work on a document on security guarantees, he noted that “new opportunities have emerged to make this document stronger, particularly in light of developments in the Middle East and the role Ukraine has demonstrated there.”
According to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, work on the document is being carried out by Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi, Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov, and Deputy Head of the President’s Office Serhii Kyslytsia.
Earlier, Head of the President’s Office Kyrylo Budanov said in an interview with Bloomberg that Ukraine expects a U.S. delegation to visit in April, led by U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. According to Budanov, the visit could take place shortly after Orthodox Easter (this year observed on April 12).
On April 1, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took part in talks with U.S. representatives held via video link. The Ukrainian side also included National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, while the U.S. side was represented by Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
