President Volodymyr Zelenskyy congratulated soldiers on Ukraine’s Army Day on Dec. 12, praising the ground troops as a cornerstone of the country’s defense.
“This is a day for hundreds of thousands of heroic soldiers who are a key element of our Army's combat strength,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram.
He highlighted the mechanized, tank, missile and artillery units, army aviation, air defense, and territorial defense brigades — the forces “who together hold the frontline and keep the enemy behind it.”
Zelenskyy thanked every soldier for their service, resilience, and “strength of spirit,” calling them “a reliable defense when the country needs it most.”
Ukrainian Army Day is observed annually on Dec. 12. The Ground Forces are the largest branch of Ukraine’s military and form the core of the country’s combat capability.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
