Ukraine’s parliament establishes national defense working group
With fears of a further Russian invasion looming, Ukraine’s parliament is to establish a national defense working group, Deputy Speaker Oleksandr Kornienko said on Feb. 22.
This working group is intended to facilitate the rapid development and adoption of defense-related legislation, Kornienko says.
“Tomorrow, the parliament will vote on amendments to our military budget and changes to procurement procedures,” said Kornienko.
“This will speed up the necessary processes and allow our armed forces to have their needs met in a timely fashion.”
Earlier, it was reported that the Verkhovna Rada – Ukraine’s parliament – will also prepare a number of economic stimulus bills to help Ukrainian business amid the ongoing Russian invasion.
