Ukraine is planning a major push in the spring with the fighting to be the “hottest” in March, Ukraine’s military intelligence head, Kyrylo Budanov, told ABC News in an interview on Jan. 4.

“This is (when we will see more) liberation of territories and dealing the final defeats to the Russian Federation,” he said.

“This will happen throughout Ukraine, from Crimea to the Donbas.”

Budanov reiterated that Ukraine’s goal is returning to the borders of 1991.

“And we will achieve it,” he said.

Budanov said on Jan. 3 that he hopes for the year 2023 to bring joy and victory to Ukraine.

Earlier on Dec. 6, he said the Ukrainians would face difficult times in the war, but the loss of Russia is already a settled issue. He also predicted that the Armed Forces of Ukraine would enter the occupied Crimea by the end of spring 2023.
