President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Crown
Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss implementing a bilateral security
agreement focused on three key areas, the Ukrainian presidential office said on
April 24.
Zelenskyy said the priorities are the export of Ukrainian security expertise and air-defense capabilities; energy cooperation to bolster Ukraine’s resilience during a difficult period; and efforts to strengthen food security.
“We are working together to strengthen our peoples and our
partners,” Zelenskyy said.
The leaders discussed Ukraine’s willingness to share experience in protecting lives and examined energy resilience during the ongoing fuel crisis induced by the Iran war. They also explored Saudi participation in Ukraine’s post-war reconstruction and potential partnerships in fintech.
Zelenskyy and Mohammed bin Salman set tasks for their teams and urged swift, full implementation, the presidential office said.
“Now, when international relations are significantly
destabilized, this kind of bilateral work restores confidence,” Zelenskyy said,
adding that they exchanged assessments of the situation in the Middle East and
the Gulf and hoped their efforts would increase security.
