Budanov: Ukraine gains concrete progress on security guarantees in Paris

Ukraine has already secured specific results from
negotiations on security guarantees in Paris, Head of the Presidential Office
Kyrylo Budanov said in a Telegram
post on Jan. 7, adding that not all information can be disclosed publicly.
Budanov noted that talks in Paris are ongoing and focus on
securing a stable peace and reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
“Not all information can be made public, but there are
already concrete results — work is continuing,” he wrote.
The presidential chief added that Ukraine’s national
interests remain protected.
On Jan. 6, Paris hosted a meeting of the so-called coalition
of the willing, which brought together Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy,
European leaders, and representatives from the United States.
Following the meeting, Ukraine, France, and the United
Kingdom signed a declaration of intent on the future deployment of
multinational forces in Ukraine after the war ends.
U.S. President’s special representative Steve Witkoff called
the meeting “a major step forward,” saying the parties have “virtually
finalized the security protocols” meant to ensure that the war ends for good.
Zelenskyy said the documents on security guarantees between
Ukraine and the United States have already been finalized and could be signed
soon.
Earlier reports said the Paris talks would continue on Jan.
7 in a more limited format, with part of Ukraine’s delegation and several
European officials taking part.
