Russia launches missile and drone assault on Ukraine, 41 drones shot down
Russian forces launched an attack on Ukraine using ballistic, guided air, and cruise missiles, as well as drones, with Ukraine's Air Force reporting that 41 of the 62 drones were shot down by air defense on the night of Oct. 10.
Ukrainian radio engineering troops detected about 70 targets during the attack, including two Iskander-M ballistic missiles, one Kh-31P guided air missile, two Kh-59/69 guided air missiles, three S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles, and 62 attack drones.
Air defense systems shot down 41 enemy drones across several oblasts, including Mykolaiv, Odesa, Kherson, Kyiv, Cherkasy, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, Poltava, Zaporizhzhya, and Donetsk, according to the report.
Additionally, another 14 drones were reportedly downed in various regions, likely due to electronic warfare countermeasures.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that Russian missile and drone strikes hit civilian and critical infrastructure in Odesa, Poltava, and Donetsk.
Several UAVs remain in Ukraine's airspace, with reconnaissance drones spotted in both southern and northern regions, the Armed Forces reported.
On the evening of October 9, Russian forces launched multiple groups of Shahed drones towards Ukraine, prompting air alerts in several areas.
In Kryvyi Rih, a five-story building was damaged in a drone attack, while infrastructure in Mykolaiv was also targeted. In Zaporizhzhya, the occupiers dropped three anti-aircraft guns, resulting in four injuries.
