General Staff confirms strikes on Russian port and refinery

Ukraine’s Defense Forces struck several key Russian targets overnight, including infrastructure at the Lukoil Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez refinery in Russia’s Nizhny Novgorod Oblast, the General Staff said on Apr. 5.
As a result of the attack, a large fire broke out on the premises of the enterprise. Lukoil-Nizhegorodnefteorgsintez holds a strategic position in Russia’s oil refining sector, supplying fuel to the critically important Moscow Oblast — nearly 30% of the country’s gasoline consumption — as well as to the Russian military. The facility’s processing capacity reaches 17 million tons of crude per year, Ukraine’s General Staff said.
The plant produces more than 50 types of products, including aviation and diesel fuel supplied directly to Russia’s military-industrial complex and occupying forces.
The General Staff also confirmed a fire following a strike on infrastructure at the port of Primorsk on the Baltic Sea, one of Russia’s largest ports involved in transporting oil products.
Ukraine’s Defense Forces also struck an aviation equipment storage site in Saky, in Russian-occupied Crimea.
Ukrainian forces also targeted concentrations of enemy personnel in the areas of Berezove and Novomykolaivka in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Huliaipole in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and Yalynske in Donetsk Oblast.
Overnight on April 5, a fire broke out in the industrial zone of the city of Kstovo following a drone attack, where one of Oblast’s largest oil refining sites is located. Explosions were heard over Kstovo overnight, after which a large fire was reported in the industrial zone. Local social media accounts and Russian media reported air defense activity and a fire near the refinery.
