Certain Moldova border checkpoints temporarily halt operations

Some checkpoints on the Ukraine-Moldova border have temporarily suspended operations, halting transit, State Border Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko said on Nov. 7.

State Border Service spokesperson Andriy Demchenko said checkpoints on the Moldova border are temporarily closed, halting transit along the Transnistrian segment. He noted passenger traffic has decreased since summer, with 80,000 people crossing daily and 100,000 to 105,000 on weekends. No significant weekday border queues have been reported.

On Nov. 6, the border service announced a temporary suspension of truck and car traffic on the Odesa-Reni highway, effective from the night of November 8, for vehicle monitoring equipment installation.

In October, Demchenko also reported a 20% decrease in illegal border-crossing attempts.
