Ukrainian forces repel Russian infiltration attempt in Sumy Oblast
The Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully repelled an attempt by a Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group to penetrate the border in Sumy Oblast on July 16, according to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) released on July 18.
In the northern Kharkiv Oblast, along the Kupyansk-Svatove-Kreminna line, Russian troops have made incremental gains. Geolocated footage from July 17 and 18 confirms their movement southeast of Kupyansk, southwest of Svatove, and west of Kreminna near the villages of Stepova Novoselivka, Makiivka, and Terny.
Further advancements by Russian forces were observed in the western part of the village of Hlyboke, with continued skirmishes reported in the vicinity. In the Toretsk sector, bolstered by armored vehicles, Russian units have pushed south of Toretsk. Recent footage from July 18 shows progress in the eastern part of the town of New York, with Russian claims of reaching significant streets and intersections in the northeastern area of Pivdenne.
Additionally, Russian military activity has intensified in the Pokrovske direction, northwest of Avdiivka. Video evidence from July 18 depicts Russian forces entering the central part of the village of Yevhenivka. Russian military commanders assert advances in multiple areas including Yevhenivka, Vozdvyzhenka, Lozuvatske, Progres, and Novoselivka Persha, as well as southwest of Avdiivka near the Karlivka water reservoir.
In Zaporizhzhya Oblast, there are claims of Russian troops advancing south of Huliaipole, highlighting a sustained push by Russian forces across several eastern fronts.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
