Ukraine's Air Force takes down $7 million Russian Forpost drone over Black Sea
The Ukrainian Air Force achieved a significant victory by downing a pricy Russian Forpost UAV over the Black Sea, stated Air Force spokesman Illya Yevlash on April 1.
"The Air Force engaged a pretty good target today, we don't have such targets very often, but we still managed to shoot down one of the most expensive unmanned aerial vehicles of the Forpost type," Yevlash said.
The Russian drone was shot down by the Odesa Air Defense Missile Brigade over the Black Sea.
The cost of the downed Russian drone is approximately $7 million, Yevlash added.
The Forpost drone can conduct reconnaissance and also carry an additional combat load in the form of two missiles or other weapons to hit ground targets.
Earlier, Ground Forces Commander Oleksandr Pavliuk reported that in March 2024, the air defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine destroyed 326 drones used by Russia for strikes and aerial reconnaissance.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
