Russian invasion forces have been concentrating their main efforts on offensives in the Kupyansk, Lyman, Bakhmut, Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk parts of the front, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff said in its morning report on Facebook on Feb. 23.
The Ukrainian army repelled about 90 enemy attacks during the day, the report said.
The Russian invaders launched 10 rocket and 19 air strikes, and fired 37 rockets from multiple rocket launchers. Peaceful towns and villages and their civilian inhabitants were attacked.
- In the Volyn, Polissya, Siversk and Sloboda sections of the front in the north and east of Ukraine, the operational situation remains unchanged. No signs of the formation of hostile offensive groups were detected. The settlements in Chernihiv Oblast were shelled with mortars and artillery: Mikhalchyna Sloboda, Sopych; Korenyok, Hirky, Boyaro-Lezhachi, Ryzhivka, Basivka of Sumy Oblast; 18 districts of settlements in Kharkiv Oblast, including Timofiivka, Strilecha, Starytsia, Vovchansk, Vilcha, Budarki, Ambarne and Bolohivka.
- In the Kupyansk and Lyman areas, the invaders tried to advance near the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Kreminna, Bilohorivka, and Fedorivka, but failed. There was artillery fire in the areas of Kamianka, Dvorichna, Hryanykivka, Kotlyarivka, and Berestov settlements of Kharkiv Oblast; Nevske, Chervonopivka, Kreminna, Kuzmyne, Dibrova, Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast; and Ivanivka and Yampolivka, Donetsk Oblast.
- In the Bakhmut section of the front, the enemy is attacking the positions of Ukrainian troops near the settlements of Orikhovo-Vasylivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, Yahidne, Maloiliinivka, and Bakhmut itself. Air reconnaissance is being actively conducted to adjust artillery fire. More than 20 settlements came under fire, including Spirne, Vesele, Bilohorivka, Dubovo-Vasylivka, Berkhivka, Yahidne, Bakhmut and Ozaryanivka in Donetsk Oblast.
- In the Avdiivka and Shakhtarsk sections of the front, Russian troops went on the offensive near Novobakhmutivka, Avdiivka, Vodyane, Nevelsky, Maryinka, Pobieda, Vuhledar, and Prechystivka. In total, the invaders carried out 43 unsuccessful attacks in this area over the past day. Artillery shelling was recorded in 22 districts of settlements, including Novobakhmutivka, Vesele, Avdiivka, Pervomaiske, Vodyane, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Heorhiivka, Maryinka, Paraskoviivka, Novomykhailivka, Vuhledar, Prechistivka, and Velyka Novosilka in Donetsk Oblast.
- In the Zaporizhzhya section of the front, the areas around Vremivka, Novosilka, Zelene Pole and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast came under fire, as did Malynivka, Gulyaipole, Zaliznychne, Novodanylivka and Kamianske in Zaporizhzhya Oblast, and Vyshchetarasivka and Marhanets in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
- In the Kherson section of the front, the city of Kherson, as well as Tyahynka, Novotyahynka, Antonivka, Zelenivka and Chornobayivka were damaged by artillery fire by Russian invasion forces.
