Ukrainian Air Forces shoot down all 18 Russian Shahed drones in overnight attack
Ukrainian air defense forces intercepted and destroyed all 18 Russian Shahed drones in an overnight attack on May 14, Air Force Commander, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleshchuk, reported on Telegram.
The drones were launched from Cape Chauda in temporarily occupied Crimea. Russia also launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile from the same area.
The air defense involved Ukrainian fighter jets, anti-aircraft missile troops, Ukrainian Defense Forces mobile fire teams, and electronic warfare units.
All 18 enemy drones were shot down over several oblasts, including Kyiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhzhya, Kherson, and Khmelnytskyi.
Ukraine has intercepted approximately 46% of Russian missiles over the past six months, a decrease from 73% in the previous six-month period.
The missile interception rate dropped to 30% in April, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The interception rate of Russian drones remained virtually unchanged during the same period, falling a single percentage point to 82%, the WSJ reported.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
Just as an army needs soldiers, so does a free society need its journalists to ensure that people have access to honest, trustworthy voices to understand the world around them.
For the past five years, The New Voice of Ukraine has been working tirelessly to push back against Russian narratives and defend democracy. But we cannot do it alone.
