While most Russian forces in southern Ukraine remain focused on deterring a potential Ukrainian counter-offensive, one minor attempted Russian advance in the region was halted, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on Aug. 2.
At least 13 settlements in the region have come under Russian artillery fire in the last 24 hours, according to the message.
Additionally, a Russian Black Sea Fleet strike group is tasked with obstructing merchant marine traffic in north-western Black Sea, and projecting firepower deep into Ukrainian territory via sea-launched cruise missiles, the General Staff said.
