Longtime Ukrainian MP Andriy Ivanchuk passes away

Ukrainian lawmaker and a member of the parliamentary group Dovira (Trust), Andriy Ivanchuk, passed away on Sept. 25, according to Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian Parliament) Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk.

He shared the sad news on Facebook, expressing condolences to Ivanchuk's family and loved ones.

"Terrible news. Today, during the night, Andriy Ivanchuk, a People's Deputy of Ukraine in the 7th, 8th and 9th convocations, has left us," he wrote.

Ivanchuk was born in 1973 in Ivano-Frankivsk. He was a member of the People's Front Party and the parliamentary group Dovira. He was the head of the Economic Policy Committee of the Ukrainian Parliament.

In 2006, he was the head of the Energy Company of Ukraine and from 2008 to 2009 he was director of Ukrainian Interenergo. Ivanchuk also held various executive positions in commercial enterprises and banks and was a lecturer at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University.

He was known as a close friend of the former prime minister, leader of the People's Front Party, Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
